I’m impressed with ABC Family!

I’ve been really impressed with several ABC Family shows this summer. Three of their shows have been must see TV for me.

First there is Pretty Little Liars. Yeah, the plot lines are a little crazy, but the show is entertaining and the mystery definitely keeps you guessing. Which even if it wasn’t highly addictive, I think I would still watch every week just to see what Spencer is wearing! Girl has a fantastic wardrobe!

Then there is Switched at Birth. Now I admit, I didn’t watch every week, but my Sister did, and she loved it. So, I caught the marathon one day and I loved it too! One of the things I like best about the show is the relationship between Bay and Emmett. Emmett is deaf and he started off believing that a relationship between a deaf and hearing person could never work, but now he has fallen for Bay. It is interesting to watch this character grow and change and open up. Plus, Vanessa Marano and Sean Berdy have great chemistry and are fun to watch together.

But the show I have been most impressed with is The Nine Lives of Chloe King. I am a sucker for mythology, so I find the Mai very interesting. I also love the relationships on this show. Chloe and her Mom. Chloe and her friends Paul and Amy. Chloe and her love interests, Alec and Brian. You feel like these people really care about each other. Plus, Chloe is great hero to watch. She truly cares about and wants to help people.

~*Spoiler Alert*~

What really impressed me with Chloe King was the season finale. This show has a lot of guts! I sat there with my mouth hanging open as I watched three main characters die. One of them was Chloe’s true love, Brian. It was heartbreaking, and just, WOW! I can’t believe that they did that! I haven’t read anything about next season, or about the books, so I don’t know if there is a way to bring Brian back, but if they don’t, like I said, it was gutsy! It was a gripping finale and not one that you would expect from ABC Family. It was very cool!

As a word of caution, stay away from The Secret Life of the American Teenager! It is horrible, but somehow it manages to suck you in every time! You have been warned! 🙂

So, what shows have you been watching this summer? Do you like any of the shows on ABC Family? What are your thoughts?

I don’t watch TV these days, but wow, the storyline about relationship between a deaf and a hearing person is very interesting. I hope it’s portrayed with justice to deaf people because it would not do well to use a disability just for ratings and also give it a bad name as well!

  2. I think it is portrayed really well! They often cut out the sound and use subtitles when characters are speaking sign language. It really lets you see things from the hearing-impaired perspective. Plus, Sean Berdy who plays Emmett is really deaf and he is very talented actor and amazing to watch. 🙂
