What I'm Into since my break

This is the What I’m Into link up at Leigh Kramer’s blog. Each month we share the various things that we’ve been enjoying in our offline and online lives. Be sure to stop by and check out all the other blogs in the link up.

I’m a little behind in writing this post because I took a blogging break in November and it’s been hard to motivate myself to blog again.

My blogging break in November was an unscheduled one. But after the election, I couldn’t bear to be online. There was so much hate everywhere! And that hate zapped all my joy in social media and blogging. So I decided to take a break.

I still had posts go up through November. I took a couple hours one day and updated some of my favorite older posts and scheduled them to run throughout the month. And then I hardly thought about the blog at all, except to post my weekly link round up.

The break came at a good time too. Cap and I are in the process of buying a house! We’re both so excited! So far everything has gone smoothly, and we’ve been blessed with the people that have been helping us. So between the house and the fact that it’s the holidays, there is no way I could’ve kept up with the blog without stressing myself out.

But now it’s time to return to the blog! I’m not sure how much I’ll post the last few weeks of the year. I may do my regular three posts a week or I may just post twice a week, but I am back!

Now, here’s what else I’ve been up to!

I finished Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. It was so good! The ending was one of the best I’ve ever read! So many twists and turns, but I should’ve expected that from Kaz and his gang! I loved this book so much that I purchased Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy just so I can spend some more time in her world.

I also read The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. So good! I enjoyed this book more than Ware’s other book In a Dark, Dark Wood. And I also read The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. I definitely recommend both books if you’re looking for a good suspense novel to read. Both were hard to put down.

Right now, I’m reading Heartless by Marissa Meyer. It’s an origin story about the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. Meyer does a great job capturing the madness and fun of Wonderland. And she has made her Queen of Hearts a sympathetic character. I dread reading about what happens to turn Cathrine into the Queen.

Cap and I are still watching DC Legends which continues to be a fun show to watch. And I love the new characters that they brought on this season. We’re also watching Superstore which is so very accurate of retail life!

Cinderella - Me and My sister

My sister and I went to see Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. And oh my, it was so good! I felt like I was seeing real magic on that stage! And it was so cute to see all these little girls dressed up as Cinderella!

Impossible was my favorite song from the play, especially these lyrics here:

But the world is full of zanies and fools
Who don’t believe in sensible rules
And won’t believe what sensible people say.
And because these daft and dewey-eyed dopes keep building up impossible
Impossible things are happening every day.

How can you not love that?!

What does it mean to be a real woman?

Feminism: What that means to me

Diversity: It’s more than skin color

So, what about you? What have you been up to? Have you ever taken a blogging break? Any good books or shows to recommend? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Thanks a lot Paula! I started reading the Grisha Trilogy after I read about it here last week. My writing and Christmas shopping have really suffered. I need someone to hide my kindle. lol. I’m in the middle of book 2 and really enjoying it. Thanks for the recommendation.
