A new look

A New look

It’s been a while.

I feel almost like I’ve forgotten how to blog. The desire just hasn’t been there. For me, writing is a habit and when I fall out of that habit it’s so hard to get back into it.

So, I decided that maybe the blog needed a new look. I hope that this will renew my interest in the blog and in blogging.

I’ve been looking at colors and fonts for a while now and when I saw the Poppit and Finch fonts and illustrations I knew it was perfect for my logo and header. I also had been looking for a pretty serif font for my post images. I really like Nashville which I’m using in the image below, but I’m not sure it’s right for the look of my blog.

I’m still debating on if I want to use stock photos or stick with illustrations. I love Kayla Marie’s work so I’m considering using more of her photos on the blog. If I do use photos, I want to be sure that they have a consistent look.

So I’m in for some experimenting in the next few weeks as I try to find a look I like.

All this change reminds me of the old days of the internet when we could change the looks of our blogs and websites all the time. Now we’re expected to keep the same look because it’s important for branding. But… it’s kind of dull to do so. Part of the fun of running a website was changing the look and having fun with code. Sometimes I miss those days!

So tell me, what do you think of the new look? Should I use stock photos again or stay with illustrations? What do you think of the Nashville font? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Love the new look! Are we meant to have the same look? Didn’t get that memo 😛 But I know what you mean. I love different fonts and have always loved the fonts you use. I’m kinda floundering about my blog’s look and brand. Thinking of merging the two (writing and personal) but also needs a lot of work if I do that!
