About the Geek

Meet the Geek

Hello, my name is Paula and this is my blog.about-the-geek

I’m a writer. It’s scary to claim that, but not as scary as it use to be. I love to write. I write about work because I enjoy mentoring people and helping them grow. I write about blogging because I’m excited to learn about it, and I want to share what I learn with others. I write about books, TV shows, and movies because I want to connect with other Fangirls, so we can share our feels! I also love to learn, so I’m always sharing what I’ve learned on the blog.

I am also an assistant manager for a major retail store. I’ve been in retail for over 16 years, and for 15 of those years I’ve been in various supervisory positions. It’s why I’m so bossy. Only in the past five years did I finally start to think of retail as a career and not just a way to fund my travels and clothing addiction.

I’m in a wonderful relationship with the best man I know. His name is Rex, but I call him Cap, because he’s my Captain America. And I’m mom to a cute Chihuahua named Buffy. She is my baby!

I’m a book nerd. Give me some Stephen King, Dean Koontz, JK Rowling, JRR Tolkien, Kate Morton or Neil Gaiman and I’m a happy girl. Though I usually prefer sci-fi and fantasy, Gone with the Wind is my favorite book.

I’m a fantasy geek! Narnia, Amber, Hogwarts, Middle Earth, Camelot, Neverland. I’ve been there. Done that.

I love to shop. Obviously, it is in the title after all. I love clothes, shoes, purses, and of course, books! And the occasional Nancy Drew game.

I love to travel. I’ve been everywhere, man.

Buffy Summers is my all time favorite super hero.

Nancy Drew was my child hood hero. Still is actually.

Winnie the Pooh is my lifestyle guru. My very first website was dedicated to him.

I am somewhat obsessed with Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock. AKA SuperWhoLock.

I have five tattoos.

I’ve had a website of some form since 1999. I started blogging in 2010. A little late to the game, but better late than never.
