My Goals for 2016

My Goals for 2016

I stopped making resolutions several years ago. I never kept them anyway. But goals?! Everyone needs goals! It gives you something to work toward, and that wonderful feeling of accomplishment when you complete your goal. So, here are my goals for 2016…

Take a one month break from Facebook.

Sometimes Facebook makes me hate people. I’ve thought about deactivating my account, but I really don’t want to do that. Mostly because I keep in touch with so many people through the Messenger app. So, I decided that instead I will remove the app from my phone for one month. I’m looking forward to the break. Facebook is a time suck. And not always a fun one, because it makes me hate the people.

Complete all my blogging goals.

Finding my blogging groove this past year was the best thing ever! Now, I just have to keep it up. Monday I wrote about how I plan to do that with my ten blogging goals for 2016.

Read. A Lot.

While I didn’t finish the 2015 reading challenge, I still read more books this year than last year. I want to keep that up. I also want to reread some of my favorite books. It’s been too long since I visited with Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins, Augustus McCrae, and Scarlet O’Hara. In 2016, I plan to make up for that.

Be a good Aunt.

That’s right! My sister is pregnant! She told us at Thanksgiving. I almost cried! And I never cry! She and my Brother-in-law are having a baby boy in June. I already have plans to introduce him to the worlds of Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Lord of the Rings. That will make me the Best. Aunt. Ever

Participate in Relay for Life

Two years ago I was Team Captain for our store. I had to step down from being Captain, because my third shift schedule conflicted with my duties, but I’m still a team member. And in April, I plan to be there with my team walking in the Relay.

Get published

I’ve thought about trying to monetize the blog by writing sponsored posts. When I see so many people making successful careers of their blogs, it’s hard not to at least think about it. But I don’t think that that is the path for me. Never say never, but for now I love having this place that belongs just to me, where I can write about whatever I want.

But the idea of getting paid to write? That would be amazing! It’s what I’ve wanted all my life. So, this year, I plan to write and submit pieces for publication. This is the scariest of all my goals. I almost didn’t put it on here, but I want to remind myself to chase my dream.

So, what are your goals for 2016? Do you still make resolutions? Are you good at keeping them? Let me know in the comments!
