The five best blogs I started following in 2011

I read a lot of great blogs, but it was easy to pick my top five. These are the blogs that have had the biggest impact on me and my blog in the past year. If you aren’t reading these blogs, well, you should be!

I shall be a toad
This post about Starbucks was one of the first pieces of Dayle’s that I read, and I knew I had found a kindred spirit! It took me a little while to start commenting on Dayle’s blog, but I am so glad that I did, because you know what? She actually commented back! ๐Ÿ™‚ I have enjoyed getting to know Dayle through her blog and our comment exchanges. She is a truly wonderful, encouraging and inspiring person!

What Little Things
Samantha writes some of the most thought provoking, and interesting blog posts, and I enjoy reading about her experiences as an ex-pat living in Peru. Samantha also leaves some of the most encouraging comments! She always makes me feel good about my blog posts. ๐Ÿ™‚ But Samantha is like that with all her fellow bloggers, because that is who she is – a very generous and caring person.

The Real Sharon
Sharon has blogged every day in 2011! How amazing is that? Sharon really helped me see what personal blogging could be. She writes about her life, her thoughts and opinions. She shares her poetry and short stories. Sharon doesn’t limit herself. And I don’t want to either!

The Modern Mrs. Darcy
When I saw the name of Anne’s blog, I knew I had to check it out. Some of the first posts I read of Anne’s were from the Life Lessons from Green Gables series, and I was immediately hooked! Anne’s blog is about redefining the accomplished woman, learning to be a good wife and mother, and embracing femininity. It’s just what I need.

Already Pretty
Reading Sally’s blog has really changed the way I look at fashion, and body image. I no longer look at myself or other people as harshly. Instead, I take Sally’s view: we are already pretty! She also inspired me to try clothes that I never would have tried before, things like leggings and skinny jeans. I would never have tried these things because I didn’t think my body type could wear them, but Sally’s philosophy helped change that. And I am forever grateful!

So, what are some of your favorite blogs of 2011? Let me know in the comments!

  1. This is great, I love discovering new blogs! The only one I’m familiar with is Already Pretty which of course is fabulous. I think my favorite blog I discovered this year is a food/fitness/parenting blog called STUFTmama.

  2. Awww, thank you so much!!

I didn’t realize that the Starbuck’s post was the first one you read! I think it’s totally cool that a rejected piece yielded this friendship!

I’m so glad you started following me and that I, in turn, found your blog ๐Ÿ™‚

The only one on this list that I’m not familiar with is Already Pretty. I’ll definitely have to check it out!

    • You’re welcome Dayle! ๐Ÿ™‚ I loved that Starbuck’s post, and I didn’t understand why it was rejected. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think you’ll really like Sally’s blog, she is so positive, and has a great perspective on body image and fashion.
